db

I have some Ado functions for Apl (not Ado.Net) that work pretty well. They should be able to talk to pretty much any Dbms system out there. I also have some nice tools you'll like that can build Sql commands directly in your program with minimal coding.

There are free databases available, even from MS, but I prefer to use Pervasive.SQL for all my work (professional & personal). They also have a non-server-based version available for something like $75-$100/user for 1-5 users.

Choice of a DB will depend a lot on what you want to use it for, such as if you may expand to using it in production work.
